XML file encoding question

Post by digidragon » Tue Aug 16, 2005 8:13 pm

I notice that the files generated are encoded "ISO-8859-1". Is this the encoding that comes from the RT data, or is it added by the grabber.

The reason I ask is that I've been playing with porting my EPG viewer to the Pocket PC platform, but it isn't happy with the "ISO-8859-1" encoding, whereas it seems fine if I remove the encoding tag from the xml file.

The Pocket PC version, although more limited than the full-blown windows version, seems fine without the encoding. So, how possible would it be to add an option to omit the encoding from the xml file generated by the grabber?

the encoding is actually the windows 1252 but as it is unsupported by most programs i just set the output to ISO-8859-1. does setting the encoding to "Windows-1252" does it work?

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, the Pocket PC version seems perfectly happy with a "Windows-1252" encoding.
